Donnet-Zédel

The mark "Zedel" originated in Switzerland as a result of a merger in 1906 by Zurich Z (Zed) and LÜTHL (el).
In 1924, the 38 year old wealthy Swiss industrialist Jerome Donnet takes over the mark.
He starts building his cars in a factory in Pontarlier under the name Donnet-Zedel.
In 1927 he built a new factory in Nanterre and dropped the name Zedel and continues production under his own name Donnet.
Like many car brands in those days Donnet struggled in the depression and ceased to trade after which the factory at Nanterre was sold to SIMCA in 1935.
